Led by Roy Wu, the team discussed the proposed scheme and its relevance to high-net-worth clients.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequent policy developments: 2024\u20132025<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The New CIES opened for applications on 1 March 2024. It seeks to attract eligible investors to invest in and settle in Hong Kong.<\/li>\n<li>The following policy information describes developments after the January 2024 seminar and should not be read as information already available on the event date.<\/li>\n<li>Under the scheme\u2019s launch requirements, eligible applicants had to demonstrate net assets of at least HK$30 million and make the required investment: HK$27 million in permissible investment assets and HK$3 million in the CIES Investment Portfolio.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme forms part of Hong Kong\u2019s efforts to develop its asset and wealth management sector and attract global asset owners.<\/li>\n<li>Enhancements introduced from 1 March 2025 adjusted aspects of net asset assessment and permitted investment through eligible private companies, subject to the scheme\u2019s detailed requirements.<\/li>\n<li>InvestHK and the Immigration Department administer the scheme\u2019s respective investment and immigration requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yu Fung\u2019s participation<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The seminar helped the team understand the proposed policy and the questions that prospective applicants might need to consider.<\/li>\n<li>Family-office administration, wealth-planning support and insurance brokerage can address different aspects of a client\u2019s needs. Each service and its provider must be considered separately.<\/li>\n<li>Any application or investment decision should be assessed against the applicable official rules and the applicant\u2019s circumstances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hong Kong\u2019s business environment<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The New CIES is intended to attract capital and eligible investors and support Hong Kong\u2019s asset and wealth management sector.<\/li>\n<li>It sits alongside policies supporting family offices, innovation and broader economic development.<\/li>\n<li>Eligibility, permissible assets and assessment arrangements may change. Applicants should consult the official scheme requirements applicable to their application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Participation in the seminar reflects Yu Fung\u2019s interest in understanding policy developments relevant to clients.
